The identities of those who died will not be released until 24 hours after the next of kin are notified, the Marine Corps said.

"Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident," said Third Marine Aircraft Wing Commanding General, Major General Michael A. Rocco in a statement. "We at Third Marine Aircraft Wing stand ready to provide support to their families."

The incident is under investigation by military authorities, the statement added.
