A police officer, a teen who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the gunman who started it all are dead after a wild night of violence in Norfolk, Virginia late Friday.

“Mr. Brown was randomly shooting from his vehicle and Mr. Rodriguez was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Police Chief Goldsmith said at a Saturday morning news conference, the station reported.

In the ensuing search for the shooter, Norfolk Police Officer Brian Jones spotted Brown's empty Jeep near his home, and as he approached, Brown shot him dead with a rifle from inside the house, the station reported. Officer Curtis Allison was wounded.

Brown fled but crashed his car, then fought with pursuing officers. When Brown tried to disarm one of the officers, he was fatally shot, according to the station.

Rodriguez was a junior at Norfolk Christian's upper school and was driving home from the school’s graduation festivities when he was shot, PilotOnline.com reported.
