A teen charged as a juvenile in the brutal beating of a Detroit motorist who accidentally hit a 10-year-old boy with his pickup truck struck a plea deal during a hearing Wednesday. The 17-year-old, who is not being identified because of his age, pleaded guilty to assaulting Steve Utash in Wayne County Juvenile Court.
As part of the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped an ethnic intimidation charge against the defendant, who is black, in the attack on victim, who is white.
