NBC News’ Steve Kornacki announced that his mom, Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, has died. She was 77.
He shared the news about his mom on Instagram on Sunday, penning a touching tribute to her.
The political correspondent uploaded a childhood picture of him sitting on his mom’s lap as he drank from a soda can. The two smiled wide for the adorable photo.
“I found this picture and gave it to my mom for her birthday a few years ago,” he began in the caption. “I look at her in it and I see love, care and happiness (and probably a little worry that I’d spill the soda). And that’s what I felt from her my whole life.”
He continued, “I lost her on Friday. I’m so lucky she was able to see so much of my life, even if no amount of time could ever be enough.”
At the end of his post, he added, “No offense to anyone out there, but my mom was the best mom.”
On Tuesday, he shared a screenshot of his mom’s obituary from Casey Funerals on X.
“Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, 1947-2024,” he simply wrote in an X post.
The obituary described Anne B. Kornacki as a native of Waterbury, Connecticut, and a “devoted wife, mother, grandma and sister.”
According to the obit, Anne B. Kornacki, died “unexpectedly” on Friday, Sept. 13 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine, surrounded by her family.
She married Stephan J. Kornacki in 1973 and they were together for over 50 years. The couple welcomed two children, Steve Kornacki and Katie Kornacki, and later opened a bed and breakfast.
“After selling the bed and breakfast, she and Steve moved to Brunswick, ME where they continued to open their home to friends and family from near and far,” the obituary read.
“Among family and friends, her hospitality was legendary,” the obituary continued. “A more recent highlight of her life was the birth of her granddaughter three years ago; she eagerly embraced being Grandma and found great joy in this role.”
Anne Kornacki is survived by her husband, son, daughter, granddaughter and her three brothers.
Her funeral services will take place on Friday.
