CLEVELAND - An Ohio grand jury probing whether additional crimes were committed in the Steubenville teen rape case has indicted on theft charges the daughter of a school employee accused of obstructing the rape investigation, authorities said Wednesday.
Hannah Rhinaman, 20, was indicted on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of grand theft, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in a statement.
The charges occurred when she was an employee of Steubenville City Schools. However, the charges are separate and unrelated to the previous indictment issued against her father, William Rhinaman, on October 7.
William Rhinaman was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice, evidence tampering and perjury.
The 14-person grand jury was examining whether additional crimes were committed during the investigation into the rape of a 16-year-old West Virginia girl.
If convicted on all counts, Hannah Rhinaman could be sentenced to up to three years in prison, NBC station WCMH reported.
Trent Mays, 17, and Ma'Lik Richmond, 16, were sentenced to at least a year in juvenile prison in a case that rocked the city and led to allegations of a cover-up to protect the Steubenville High School football team. Mays was ordered to serve an additional year for photographing the underage girl naked.
