Not many were surprised that the fight between the FBI and Apple continued full-force, but some were surprised by an end-of-the-week announcement that could have a "huuuge" impact on the race for president.

FBI and Apple Continue Battle
In the latest development in the battle between the FBI and Apple, the smartphone maker filed a motion Thursday to vacate a California magistrate judge's order that would force the tech giant to help FBI agents access an iPhone used by San Bernardino massacre shooter Syed Farook. Apple argues that the judge's court order from the Feds would violate its First and Fifth Amendment rights, as well as do serious damage to the security of the company's products.
Zika Fears Compounded
Zika may cause even worse birth defects than feared, doctors reported Thursday. Zika is spreading fast across the Americas and the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have both warned pregnant women to avoid countries where the virus is circulating.
Gunman Kills Three, Injures 14 in Kansas
A gunman who opened fire from a vehicle and at his workplace, killing three and wounding 14 others, was served with a restraining order at work just 90 minutes before the attack ended in bloodshed there, officials said Friday. Gunman Cedric Larry Ford was killed by the first police officer at Excel Industries, after Ford had randomly shot people there and at two other locations.
GOP Debate Gets Heated
Thursday's CNN-Telemundo debate was the first time senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who have savaged each other in the last several meetings, put aside their differences and focused their fire on Donald Trump. Trump, for his part, never seemed to lose his cool and dished out jabs of his own.
Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie offered up the latest twist of the Republican presidential primary when he endorsed Trump on Friday, saying the GOP front-runner is "rewriting the playbook of American politics." Christie Trump's most high-profile endorsement to date, and his support comes four days before the important Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses are held in 13 states.
