Sean “Diddy” Combs was transferred to the federal prison at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on Thursday, where he will begin to serve the rest of his 50-month sentence, a spokeswoman from the Bureau of Prisons said.

Combs, 55, had been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Representatives for Combs said they would not comment on the transfer.

He was sentenced this month to 50 months in prison on two counts of interstate prostitution.

After an eight-week trial, he was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence.

The Fort Dix prison is a large, low security federal prison for men located in New Hanover Township. It houses approximately 4,000 inmates.

Combs is slated to be released on May 8, 2028, but could be released earlier for good behavior or completing certain programs in prison. Combs has already spent 14 months behind bars after his arrest in September 2024.

At his sentencing, Combs’ attorneys asked U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian to send him to Fort Dix for its drug rehabilitation programs as well as the opportunity to be closer to some members of his family.

Combs' lawyers have said they are pursuing an expedited appeals schedule and described prosecutors’ use of the Mann Act — which prohibits traveling across state lines to engage in prostitution — as “unfair.”

Federal prosecutors had accused Combs of using his position as an entertainment mogul to force or coerce women into sexual acts with paid sex workers.

The alleged victims included Combs’ former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who testified that she was subjected to physical abuse and dayslong drug-fueled sexual encounters with male escorts under Combs' direction.
