Search for Nancy Guthrie in its third week with no suspects in custody

Savannah Guthrie shared a new video last night pleading for the person who took her mother or who may know where she is, saying “it’s never too late.”

“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope and we still believe,” the “TODAY” co-anchor said.

No suspects are in custody as the search for Nancy Guthrie stretches into its 15th day. Investigators have fielded over 30,000 calls for leads, the Pima County sheriff told NBC affiliate KVOA of Tucson.

A glove containing DNA evidence was recovered roughly 2 miles from Guthrie’s home and appears consistent with a glove worn by an individual seen in a doorbell camera video from the morning she disappeared, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

Following some additional testing, the person says the DNA profile, which matches that of an unknown male, will be added to the national database managed by the FBI.

There’s a new king of the Winter Olympics. Cross-country skiing star Johannes Høsflot Klæbo claimed his ninth career gold medal yesterday, breaking a tie with three other retired Norwegian athletes for the most ever.

Team USA superstars Erin Jackson and Mikaela Shiffrin failed to medal in their respective events. The speedskater finished fifth in the 500 meters, where the Netherlands’ Femke Kok won gold with an Olympic record. Shiffrin finished 11th in the giant slalom.

The U.S. men’s curling team upset Sweden, and U.S. men’s hockey beat Germany to clinch a bye into the quarterfinals.

On tap today: The U.S. women’s hockey team plays Sweden in the semifinals, while Canada takes on Switzerland. Pairs figure skating will hand out medals. Plus, a trio of American women — including Elana Meyers Taylor, the most decorated female bobsledder and Black Winter Olympian ever — are in contention for the podium in monobob.

Agreements between Immigration and Customs Enforcement and local law enforcement have increased by 950% in the first year of Trump’s second term, according to a new analysis of ICE data.

As of Jan. 26, there were 1,168 agencies with officers trained to help ICE, up from 135 during the Biden administration and 150 at the end of the president’s first term, according to the analysis. Florida had the most participating agencies, followed by Texas.

The Trump administration has revived a controversial “task force” model that allows local police officers to be deputized by ICE to stop people and make arrests based on suspicion that someone is in the country illegally.

Iran is still reeling from a brutal security crackdown on anti-government protests that started in late December and has left thousands dead. Many analysts who spoke to NBC News said the scale of the killing — over 7,000 people dead according to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency — is unparalleled in Iran’s modern history.

In discussions with other editors, I wanted to put a face to the shocking numbers and give readers a better understanding of who the regime had targeted, which included men, women and children from different socioeconomic backgrounds and geographic areas of Iran. I compiled the stories of four Iranians who were victims of what the head of one advocacy group called, “a very rapid 48-hour massacre.”
