A home in the Los Angeles neighborhood where singer D4vd's Tesla was abandoned before a decomposed body was found in the trunk was searched Wednesday night, law enforcement told NBC Los Angeles.
The search, according to law enforcement, is connected to the Tesla and the investigation of the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas.
Four law enforcement sources told NBC News and NBC Los Angeles that the Hollywood Hills home was connected to the singer but did not provide additional details. Authorities were seeking several items, including digital devices that would have security recording or would connect the teen to the location.
The Los Angeles Police Department said several pieces of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed. It also said investigators were following up on leads.
The Tesla was taken to Hollywood Tow after a person reported that it had been abandoned, NBC Los Angeles previously reported. Neighbors said the car had been parked for more than a month.
On Sept. 8, police were called to the impound lot for a report of a foul odor coming from the vehicle.
Decomposed remains, those of Rivas, were found in the trunk. Law enforcement sources said the remains were not intact. Rivas was reported missing last year from Lake Elsinore, California, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said she was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings when she was found. A cause of death has not been determined, and the case is being treated as a death investigation.
A spokesperson for D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, said last week that he had been informed about what happened and was “fully cooperating with authorities.”
