A small plane was severely damaged when it crashed-landed Monday morning on a road near Wasilla, Alaska, but the pilot was able to walk away unscathed, authorities said.
The plane, a 1976 Piper PA 18-150 "Supercub," was reported down at 8:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. ET) on Seward Meridian Parkway, according to the National Transportation Safety Board and the Division of Alaska State Troopers.
The plane is registered to a Wasilla man who lives about half a mile from the crash site, according to Federal Aviation Administration records.
Megan Peters, a spokeswoman for the Division of Alaska State Troopers, told NBC station KTUU of Anchorage that the crash occurred near Image Audio just outside the Wasilla city limits. She said the road was closed for more than an hour.
