A person connected to last month's shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was taken into custody in Buffalo, more than 370 miles from the alleged attack, authorities said Tuesday.

Frederick Green, a 20-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested on Monday and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to a New York Police Department statement and court records.

The U.S. Marshals Service said in a statement that they assisted the New York Police Department in the apprehension of a "person of interest" in Buffalo. That Marshals' statement did not mention Green by name.

Marshals "worked with NYPD detectives to locate and arrest the suspect, who fled the scene following the shooting," the statement added.

A man who answered at Green's publicly listed Bronx phone number told NBC News on Tuesday to "lose this number" before hanging up. Subsequent phone and text messages were not immediately returned.

Boyd was critically wounded shortly after 2 a.m. on Nov. 16 near Seventh Avenue and West 38th Street, authorities have said.

A "verbal dispute inside" Sei Less, a popular Midtown Manhattan restaurant, escalated "into a large brawl involving dozens of people," police said.

The shooting landed Boyd at Bellevue Hospital “for treatment for a gunshot wound entering his groin and exiting his abdomen, leaving a fragment in his pulmonary artery,” a criminal complaint by Manhattan prosecutors revealed on Wednesday.

Police connected Green's cell phone to a tower a half block from the restaurant, which also matched surveillance video of him at the scene at that time, prosecutors said.

Cell signals and surveillance footage also place Green at the Polo Grounds Houses, which is about a half-hour subway ride and walk from the shooting scene, shortly after 2:30 a.m., prosecutors said.

A few days after he was shot in the abdomen, Boyd posted on social media from his hospital bed saying he was "coming along."

Boyd had logged time with the Minnesota Vikings, the Houston Texans, and the Arizona Cardinals before he signed with the Jets this season. But he has spent this entire campaign on the injured reserve list because of a shoulder injury.

He made a surprise visit to the team's training facility last week in Florham Park, New Jersey. The 3-10 Jets have already clinched a 10th consecutive losing season.
