Adam Lanza's father is offering to help get the Newtown school shooter's medical records for a state commission reviewing the massacre.
Peter Lanza "is willing to approve the release of any medical records that he has the authority to release," a spokesman for him said in a statement released Friday. The statement said Peter Lanza had told the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission's chairman that "he is willing to meet with him" to reach that goal.
The statement came as the commission met Friday.
Mental health experts on the commission have said they want to see Adam Lanza's records to learn more about his state of mental health and determine if there were gaps in treatment, The Associated Press reported.
Adam Lanza shot his mother, Nancy, to death on Dec. 14, 2012, before killing 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. He committed suicide.
A report released by the state of Connecticut in November said Lanza had no clear motive for the shooting but was obsessed with the 1999 Columbine High School shooting.
