Another man — the brother of the original suspect — has been arrested in connection with the murder Holly Bobo, officials said Thursday. The nursing student disappeared on April 13, 2011, and it took three years for investigators to find her remains and charge a suspect, Zachary Rye Adams, with her murder.
Bobo was a 20-year-old student at the University of Tennessee at Martin when she disappeared outside her Darden home. Her brother said he saw her being led away from the home between 7:30 and 8 a.m.
On Wednesday, agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested John Dylan Adams, 26, on charges of tampering with evidence, officials said. The TBI only said that Adams allegedly "disposed of items he knew to be of evidentiary value to the case.” He was being held without bond in the Madison County Jail. His brother, Zachary Adams, faces felony murder and aggravated kidnapping charges in connection with Bobo's death. Another suspect, Jason Autry, faces the same charges as Zachary Adams. Both have pleaded not guilty.
Additionally, two other men, brothers Jeffrey Pearcy and Mark Pearcy, are charged with tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact in the case.
Bobo's family released an emotional statement earlier this month calling her killers soulless. “We’ve lost a precious daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend,” family attorney Steve Farese said at a news conference with the Bobo family behind him. “However, those responsible have lost their souls. Holly’s soul is the one thing that their brutality could not diminish or extinguish.”
