Muhammad Ali has “vastly improved” since he was hospitalized over the weekend with pneumonia, and doctors hope to discharge him soon, a spokesman said Monday.

The legendary boxer, 72, who has Parkinson’s disease, was taken to the hospital on Saturday with what was described as a mild case of pneumonia. The hospital was not identified.

“The Ali family continues to request privacy and appreciates all of the prayers and well wishes,” the spokesman, Bob Gunnell, said in a statement. “No further details are being released.”
