President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton remain the most admired man and woman in America, according to Gallup's annual survey, but Russian President Vladimir Putin also has his admirers — he crashed Monday's list, too.
It's the seventh straight year Obama has topped the rankings of most admired men and the 17th time in the last 18 years that Clinton has come out atop the list of most admired women. Clinton was followed by Oprah Winfrey and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, with Pope Francis and former President Bill Clinton trailing Obama. Evangelist Billy Graham also made the list for the 58th straight year, which Gallup said is a record.
Putin pops up in a six-way tie for sixth among men, with potential Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, physicist Stephen Hawking, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. All were cited by 1 percent of respondents in the survey, which was conducted Dec. 8-11. Those rankings could easily be shuffled, because the survey reported a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
