An Oregon mother of two who has been missing for more than a week was possibly spotted on a ferry headed to a vacation spot in Washington, but those searching for her were encouraged on Sunday to continue looking near where she vanished.
Jennifer Huston and her green SUV disappeared from a Dundee, Oregon, gas station on July 26. A couple reported Thursday that they saw a woman who looked like Huston in a similar vehicle on a ferry en route to the San Juan Islands in Washington. The Washington State Ferries security office turned over surveillance video to the San Juan Sheriff's Office and posted her photos around the ferry terminal to determine if anyone else had seen the woman, Marta Coursey, a spokeswoman for the Washington State DOT, told NBC News.
More than 300 miles away, eight additional agencies were searching by air and by land for Huston, according to the Newberg-Dundee Police Department. An interactive map set up by the department prompts people to drop a pinpoint where they have searched for Huston. The map is blanketed in hundreds of blue points, centered near Dundee. A post on a Facebook page called "Find Jennifer Huston" on Sunday urged the community not "to lose focus on local search areas!"
