Police went door to door through a Tennessee high school Friday, apparently after a report of armed men on campus. Authorities later gave the all-clear.
Police searched East High School in Memphis and found no guns and no trespassers, NBC affiliate WMC reported.
The school board called police to say that it “had received information that there were up to four armed parties inside the school,” Karen Rudolph, a police spokeswoman, told WMC.
The Shelby County school system told NBC News that “some kids reported a safety tip” of gunmen at the school. The system later said on Twitter that the tip did not involve gunmen, and that the school was on a “precautionary” lockdown.
