Body parts found in a Seattle recycling bin were likely those of a woman reported missing after going on a date to a baseball game with a man she met online, police said.
Officers said Monday evening that the human remains were likely those of Ingrid Lyne, a 40-year-old nurse reported missing Saturday after her date to watch the Mariners play the night before.
A suspect identified as 37-year-old John Robert Charlton was arrested in Snohomish County, north of Seattle, on Monday morning and booked into a jail on suspicion of murder, Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole told a press conference.
Later on Monday night, police announced they had found a silver Toyota Highlander in downtown Seattle that they had been hunting in connection with the case. The Associated Press reported that the vehicle belonged to the victim.
Friends of Lyne told NBC station KING5 that she was reported missing after she didn't pick up her children from her grandparents' house Saturday morning.
Later that day, at around 4:20 p.m. (7:20 p.m ET), a Seattle resident called police to say he had found human remains in plastic bags in his recycling bin, O'Toole told reporters.
The remains included three body parts — including a foot — the AP reported.
"We have no reason to believe that there's any question of the victim's identity — we're very confident that the victim is the one that has been identified in the media," the police chief said, referring to Lyne. "We do not believe there are any outstanding suspects."
O'Toole said it would be down to the King County Medical Examiner's Office to confirm the victim's identity.
