Jake Reiner returned to the Dodgers podcast he co-hosts on Wednesday for the first time since his parents, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, were killed in their Los Angeles-area home.
Jake Reiner, 34, thanked all the people who have reached out to him and his family since the unthinkable happened on Dec. 14. Despite the loss of his parents, Reiner said he continues to feel close to his dad through their shared love of baseball.
“When it comes to the Dodgers, my first love, it’s something I’ve always connected with my dad first and foremost,” Jake said on “The Incline” podcast. “It’s something I will continue to connect with him for the rest of my life.”
Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead in their bedroom by paramedics responding to a call, officials have said. Nick Reiner, the couple’s middle child, was arrested the same day about 15 miles from his parents’ Brentwood home.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon, a knife.

On Wednesday, Jake Reiner said the outpouring of support has helped him get through this difficult time.
“I really feel the love and I couldn’t appreciate that more,” he said.
Last month, Reiner wrote on Substack that he was attending a celebration of life for a friend in New York with his sister when they got the call that their parents had been killed. He said his world “collapsed” and that he “was in a trance” upon hearing the devastating news. He could only focus on getting back to his childhood home to fully understand what was happening.
“My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking,” he wrote. “It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.”
