A huge fire at a Kentucky manufacturing plant that burned for more than a day has been contained, a manager of GE Appliance Park in Louisville said Saturday evening.
There were no injuries in the blaze, which broke out Friday morning and parts of which were still smoldering Saturday afternoon, a plant spokesperson and fire officials said. A cause of the fire is still being determined, but it occurred as storms and lighting hit the area.
The building that burned housed a warehouse and offices, spokesperson Kim Freeman said, and production will be shut down through next week as workers are moved to other offices and the rest of the facility is inspected. The plant employs around 6,000 people, she said.
