The most talked-about possible presidential contender of 2016 dismissed questions about what role her wealth may play in the race, were she to run.
At a time of stark income inequality, Hillary Clinton has reportedly earned $5 million in speaking fee engagements in two years — since 2001, the Clintons have reportedly made more than 20 times that.
The people “don’t see me as part of the problem,” She said in an interview published Sunday with the Guardian. “We pay ordinary income tax, unlike a lot of people who are truly well off.”
In the interview, Clinton also described the public's intense focus on the superficial aspects of political life for women.
“At a certain point, you say: ‘Forget it!’ You are who you, and you are either going to be successful in getting people to vote for you or you’re not,” she said.
