A Good Samaritan rescued six people after a boat started to sink off the coast of Louisiana late Thursday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The 31-foot pleasure craft containing four adults and three children started taking on water 20 miles southeast of the Cameron Jetties.

Coast Guard crews from Sabine Pass, Houston and Corpus Christi were dispatched after receiving a distress call via radio at around 8 p.m. local time (9 p.m. ET). Two MH-65 Dolphin helicopters, an airplane and a 45-foot rescue boat were scrambled.

However, another boat spotted the vessel in distress and towed it to safety, USCG Petty Officer Carlos Vega told NBC News early Friday. He added that a 68-year-old man had been airlifted to hospital in one of the helicopters but his condition was not thought to be serious.
