A Massachusetts man was fatally stabbed and his brother was injured after they tried to intervene in a fight in Providence, Rhode Island.

Authorities accuse Eric Souza, 29, of Assonet, Mass., of attacking Satchel Ramos, 22, and his brother, Clyde Ramos, 26, during an argument around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to NBC affiliate WJAR.

Police say the brothers saw Souza and two others picking a fight with a couple. That's when they attempted to act as Good Samaritans and try to calm things down.

Satchel was fatally stabbed while Clyde sustained injuries.

Souza was ordered held without bail Monday on murder and conspiracy charges related to the Sunday fight, according to the affiliate.
