A Georgia dentist is accused of killing his wife and teenage daughter before dying by suicide, police said.
Officers were conducting a welfare check Sunday at the home in the Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek when they discovered the bodies of James and Myoung Choi, both 52, and their 15-year-old daughter, Grace, the Johns Creek Police Department said in a news release.
The cause of death was not released. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates Dr. James Choi killed his family and then himself.
"This tragic incident has deeply affected not only the family and neighbors, but our entire community," Police Chief Mark J. Mitchell said in a statement. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to those impacted and ask that the community keep them in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time."
Police said they were not releasing further details out of respect for the family and "to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation."
Choi worked at Highland Dental in Suwanee. The office declined to comment Wednesday.
Grace was a sophomore at Mount Pisgah Christian School, a private school in Johns Creek. She appears to have been a gifted violinist who performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the True North Symphony in July, according to an Instagram post by the school's Fine Arts Department.
"We are completely heartbroken. Grace, you are so loved," the department said in an Instagram story. "You make us so proud and you will always be an integral part of our fine arts family."
The school said it was "heartbroken and devastated."
"We wish to express our deepest condolences and our heartfelt love, support, and prayers to Grace’s extended family, friends, and everyone who is grieving with our school community, it said in a statement.
