An alleged murderer who escaped a psychiatric hospital has been captured after days on the run in West Virginia, police said late Wednesday.

Rocco Zuccaro, 30, escaped from the William R. Sharpe, Jr. hospital in Weston on Monday, according to NBC affiliate WTOV.

West Virginia police found him hiding in tall grass shortly before midnight Wednesday near a gas facility in McWhorter, about 10 miles away from the hospital, according to Lt. Michael Baylous.

Police said multiple sightings by the public helped track down Zuccaro — who has been charged with a 2013 murder. Zuccaro is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail where he is awaiting arraignment on a felony escape charge, Baylous added.
