The FBI issued a $25,000 reward Wednesday for any information leading to the arrest of two new suspects involved in the kidnapping of a North Carolina man that occurred earlier this month.
Jakym Camel Tibbs, 21, and Quantavious Thompson, 18 or 19, are wanted in the investigation of the kidnapping of Frank Janssen, 63, who was taken from his home on April 5, 2014.
Four days after he was taken, FBI Hostage Rescue team rescued Janssen some 400 miles from his home in Atlanta, Ga. He is now receiving medical treatment in a local hospital.
Five people have already been arrested and face life in prison in what is being described as an elaborate kidnapping plot.
Kelvin Melton, 49, who was sentenced to life in prison for orchestrating a 2011 murder plot, is accused of being the mastermind behind Janssen's kidnapping. He is serving time after Janssen's daughter, a prosecutor, helped put him behind bars in October 2012.
Additional charges were brought against Kelvin Melton last Friday for conspiring to kidnap, according to the FBI. Investigators say that he gave instructions on how to kill and dispose of Janssen's body using a mobile phone.
On April 11, 2014, federal arrest warrants were issued for Tibbs and Thompson by the United States District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina, after being charged for kidnapping.
FBI Spokesperson Shelly Lynch said that due to the sensitivity of the investigation no further information will be released. "The Janssen family has asked for privacy. Thank you for any help you can provide with publicity to locate the suspects."
Tibbs and Thompson remain at large and investigations by FBI Charlotte, FBI Atlanta and the Wake Forest Police Department continue.
