Two men have been charged with trying to sell a cache of elaborate guns that once belonged to Saddam Hussein's family. A federal indictment in New Jersey says David Phillip Ryan, 50, of Miami, and Carlos Quirola-Ordonez, 57, of New Jersey, hoped to reap up to $350,000 from the sale of the smuggled firearms — one of which is engraved with the initials of Saddam's son, Qusay. Some of the pistols featured gold inlays and wood grips with drawings of wild animals.
Prosecutors said the defendants knew the weapons were brought to the U.S. illegally because one of them told an undercover agent, "They can be auctioned, but just not in the United States...we're the only ones who've passed a law against it." Two other men who were charged have pleaded guilty, officials said.
