A 25-year-old man died after shots were fired into the vehicle he was driving from a passing vehicle on Interstate 10 in Louisiana, police said.

Herbert Williams, a resident of Baker, Louisiana, died in a local hospital after the 4:15 a.m. incident while traveling near the Mississippi River Bridge. Three other occupants were unharmed.

"The shooting is not believed to be random," Don Coppola of the Baton Rouge Police Department told NBC News via email early Monday.

Baker is located 13 miles north of state capital Baton Rouge.
