Comedian Reggie Carroll died in a shooting last week in Southaven, Mississippi.
Southaven police responded to a shooting Wednesday in the area of Burton Lane and took a person into custody on a murder charge, the police department said in a news release.
Carroll, 52, of Maryland, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers and medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Carroll died from his injuries, the news release says.

Details about what led up to the shooting remain unclear. Police and a representative for Carroll did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday.
"Due to this being an active investigation, there is limited information to be released," police said Saturday. "Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll."
Carroll did stand-up comedy and toured across the country. Club Mobtown Comedy in Baltimore paid tribute to him Saturday on Instagram.
"Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll, thank you for being one of the OGs who supported us early on," the club wrote. "The Mobtown family and the Baltimore comedy community are very saddened by this loss of one of our city’s great talents. Sending our prayers to Reggie’s family."
The investigation continues.
