The Coast Guard has called off a search for a man who was reportedly attacked by a shark Sunday morning in Northern California, officials said.
The Coast Guard received the report that the man had disappeared on Wildcat Beach at Point Reyes National Seashore around 10:40 a.m.
The man was with a small group when he disappeared, Coast Guard District 11 Petty Officer Hunter Schnabel said. A member of the group told officials that the man disappeared after a shark attack.
Officials did not name the man Monday.
On Sunday, members of the Coast Guard, the National Park Service and the Marin County and Stinson Beach fire departments were assisting with the search. The search party included two helicopters, the park service said.
The search was called off around 9 a.m. Monday, Schnabel said.
Point Reyes National Seashore is a coastline in Marin County with around 80 miles of shoreline, including dozens of miles of beach, according to the park service website.
