The stepmother of the 12-year-old Detroit boy found safe in the basement of his father's home after a frenzied search was taken into custody for an unrelated parole violation, according to NBC affiliate WDIV.

Monique Dillard-Bothuell, 37, was on parole for purchasing a pistol without a permit. Dillard-Bothuell's 4-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter were taken from her home by Child Protective Services while Detroit police probe alleged abuse, the affiliate reported.

Dillard-Bothuell is the wife of Charles Bothuell IV, whose son, Charlie, was found crouching behind a makeshift barricade of boxes in the basement 11 days after being reported missing.
