Brain freeze for everyone!

To celebrate the company's 87th anniversary, 7-Eleven is giving away free small Slurpees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, which is 7/11 on the calendar. "Free Slurpee Day'' has been going on since 2002, and Slurpees have been sold for the past 49 years at the round-the-clock convenience stores.

The icy, sugary, slushy drink, which has come in hundreds of flavors over the years and pleasantly paralyzed many faces on a hot day, is named after the sound made when slurping up the concoction through a straw. It also has served as a liquid staple in many kids' diets growing up.

"When I was little I used to Rollerblade to the local 7-Eleven, [and] buy myself a Slurpee and a big Snickers bar, back in the day when calories didn't matter,'' Jenna Bush Hager said while sipping a small Slurpee during TODAY's Take on Friday.

Jenna declared her allegiance to the Coke-flavored Slurpee, while Willie Geist said he was "a red [flavor] guy."

While the small size is free on Friday, you will have to open your wallet if you want to upgrade. "You're supposed to get like a two-gallon-sized Slurpee that you have to hold (with two hands),'' Geist joked.
