A body was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane after it landed in Maui.
The body was discovered after the Boeing 787-10 arrived at Kahului Airport, United said in a statement. The Christmas Eve flight took off from an airport in Chicago.
The body was in the wheel well of one of the main sets of landing gear. United said the area is accessible only from outside the aircraft.
It is not clear how or when the person accessed the wheel well, the airline said, saying it is working with law enforcement. Further details were not immediately available.
Maui police did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. Authorities told NBC affiliate KHNL of Honolulu that they are investigating.
