Five teenagers were arrested Wednesday after allegedly spending a week plotting to murder a classmate at their Arizona high school, police said Thursday.
Tucson Police said administrators at Flowing Wells High School notified the department after a student told administrative staff about the plan. An investigation uncovered a detailed plan and that one student had brought a knife to school, police added.
"The incident was not a random act of violence," police said in a statement. "The students were targeting another student in their group that they were having problems with."
The teens — four of whom have not been identified because they are juveniles — were booked into the Pima County Jail for conspiracy to commit first degree murder. The accused include two 15-year-old males, two 17-year-old females and 18-year-old Christopher Gibson.
