A student shot and wounded an administrator and a resource officer inside the office a Kansas high school on Friday, according to police.
Authorities said a male student was in custody following the shooting at Olathe East High School. No students were injured during the incident, the Olathe Police Department said in a tweet.
The resource officer and administrator are stable and expected to survive, Olathe Police Sgt. Joel Yeldell said.
The resource officer radioed at 10:30 a.m. that he and an administrator had been shot and wounded by a student in the office. The resource officer said he returned fire, according to Yeldell, shooting and wounding the student.
While there was no longer a threat to the school, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on scene and providing assistance in the investigation, the agency said in a tweet.
Police were staging parents in a nearby parking lot midday. Olathe East, with 1,900 students, is about 20 miles southwest of Kansas City.
