Syrian regime warplanes launched a new wave of strikes on the northwestern town of Maaret al-Numan, seized by rebels last week, an AFP correspondent reported.

Reuters also reported: The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said dozens of people were wounded when warplanes bombed the northern town of Maarat al-Numan, which straddles the main north-south highway connecting Damascus with Aleppo and was captured by rebels last week. According to the Observatory, more than 140 Syrians were killed on Wednesday, many of them women and children.
