A disabled veteran who was shot in the head while serving in Iraq was welcomed to his new home at a special dedication ceremony in Manassas, Virginia, on Monday.

U.S. Army Specialist Jay Briseno became a quadriplegic after being injured while serving in Iraq in 2003 and his parents have worked full-time to care for him ever since. The Quality of Life Foundation, Azalea Charities and Helping A Hero worked together to raise $570,000 to build the home with an accessible bathroom, home therapy room and a screened-in porch and deck.

"It's overwhelming," Bresino's father said. "It's America saying thank you to my son for the service that he did for our country."
