Mexican armed forces paraded through Mexico City on Tuesday along with President Enrique Pena Nieto in celebration of Mexico's independence from Spain. Also known as the "Grito del Dolores," Sept. 16 marks the 204th anniversary of the country's declaration of independence, which was not fully granted until 11 years later in 1821.

President Nieto opened the festivities at the National Palace by ringing a bell four times and exclaiming "Long live the heroes that gave us our nation and freedom! Long live this nation that embrace us! Long live Mexico!"
