Colombian-American actor and acclaimed comedian and writer John Leguizamo spoke to TODAY's Tamron Hall and Jenna Bush Hager about his new film "The Infiltrator," based on a real-life story about an officer who spearheads what turns out to be the biggest drug bust in U.S. history —against drug cartel kingpin Pablo Escobar.
Leguizamo said he spent time with the real-life agent and asked a lot of questions from the agents who consulted on the set. "Am I doing this right — would I take this guy down this way?"
"It was very dark - it was kind of hard to shake off," said Leguizamo, about the theme of the show.
The movie, which opened in theaters Friday, also stars Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Diane Kruger and Benjamin Bratt.

Leguizamo, known to many children and adults alike as Sid the Sloth in the "Ice Age" franchise, also spoke about being part of the hit Netflix show "Bloodline," which he called "twisted" and "sick."
"We're having a lot of fun, and they give us a lot of freedom," said Leguizamo, about the show about the secrets and twists and turns of a family in the Florida Keys. "It's the most creative experience I've had in a long, long time."
