Talented star Carlos Ponce is known for being a jack-of-all-trades in the artistic world, but he's also passionate about ending deep poverty through education and better health and sanitation resources.
Ponce's resume includes hosting entertainment news programs, starring in network comedy shows, reaching number one multiple times on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart and hitting the big screen in films alongside huge names like Melissa McCarthy.
Along the way, he's racked up huge Spanish-language and English-language fan bases who have come to know that Ponce can surely make them laugh. But they might be less aware of Ponce’s passion to improve the world.
When asked what global challenge he wants to see the world come together to solve, Ponce stressed that he wants us to aim to end poverty, which is also the mission of the organization Global Citizen. Both Ponce and the organization point to the United Nations’ Global Goals for Sustainable Development as the guidelines for how this lofty but admirable wish can become a reality.
As Ponce points out, providing an education to children globally will make an impressive dent in poverty rates. According to the Global Partnership Education, 75 million children between the ages of three and 18 live in zones of conflict and need educational support. Focusing humanitarian aid on new educational opportunities will help the resource constraints that continue to slow progress in the realm.

Ponce is also passionate about providing clean water and sanitation to those living in poverty. According to Water.org, an astounding 663 million people lack access to clean water, and 2.4 billion people do not have access to a toilet.
Global Citizen aims to end extreme poverty by the year 2030 by seeking commitments from world leaders, governments, organizations and policy makers. The actions spurred by the organization and its many members have resulted in 130 policy announcements and pledges that will ultimately affect 656 million lives.
