The ex-wife of a prosecutor whose mysterious death has rocked Argentina said a team of experts she hired has concluded that her former husband was killed.
Sandra Arroyo Salgado said Thursday in a press conference that her husband "was a victim of homicide, without any doubt."
Alberto Nisman was found shot dead Jan. 18 in his apartment bathroom. It was a day before he was to elaborate to lawmakers on his accusations that President Cristina Fernandez orchestrated a secret deal with Iran to hide the role of officials allegedly responsible for the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center.
Eighty-five people were killed in what stands as the country's worst terrorist attack.
Argentine authorities have not released full results of their autopsy. The few forensic details that have been made public so far by the prosecutor's office have suggested suicide, though no official ruling has been made.
Under Argentine law, the families of victims have access to the crime scene and can do their own forensic tests.
The prosecutor who replaced Nisman, Gerardo Pollicita, appealed a judge's decision Wednesday to throw out the investigation of Fernandez. The judge ruled there is no evidence, even circumstantial, pointing to Fernandez. Pollicita said in his appeal that an investigation is needed to prove or disprove the facts.
