Friends and neighbors of the late Douglas Rafael da Silva Pereira prayed before playing soccer in a plaza near the spot where Pereira's body was found in the Pavao Pavaozinho slum of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, angry residents blaming police set fires and showered homemade explosives and glass bottles onto a busy avenue in the city's main tourist zone. Pereira was a well-known figure in the community, and a dancer on a television show featured on Brazil's largest channel.
