Flash flooding triggered by a strong thunderstorm killed at least eight people in southern Utah, authorities said. Five others remained missing early Tuesday. Hungary hopes a newly constructed border fence will stem the flood of people from Syria and beyond pouring through the country's borders. 3. Slain Delta State Professor Called ‘Star’ Teacher
A Delta State University professor shot dead on the Mississippi campus by another faculty member was a "wonderful fellow" and a "star," the university's president said early Tuesday. Police say Shannon Lamb fatally shot 39-year-old colleague Ethan Schmidt. Lamb killed himself hours later while being pursued by police. Read more in NEWS.
4. 23,000 People Displaced by Two California Wildfires
A blaze raging north of San Francisco known as the Valley fire has burned across 95 square miles, destroyed at least 400 homes and claimed one life. A number of people remain unaccounted for. 5. North Korea Restarts Nuclear Plant
North Korea said on Tuesday its main nuclear complex was operating and it was working to improve the "quality and quantity" of its weapons which it could use against the United States at "any time." The country often makes threats against the United States and South Korea. Read more in NEWS.

Trump hit the major points of his immigration plan — slamming sanctuary cities and pressing his reasoning that illegal immigration must be stopped — during a rally Monday night in front of more than 15,000 people in Dallas. Read more in NEWS.
7. 37 Face Charges in Hazing Death of College Freshman
A grand jury has recommended charges against 37 members of a fraternity at New York City's Baruch College. The Pi Delta Psi members are accused of killing freshman Michael Deng during a "brutal" hazing ritual in 2013. Read more in NEWS.
