Jury gets Boston bombing case
The case against alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will go to a jury Tuesday after weeks of graphic testimony. Prosecutors brought an overwhelming amount of evidence against Tsarnaev. His dense lawyers argue their client was manipulated by his old brother, Tamerlan. If Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is convicted, the trial will move to a new phase that will determine whether he faces the death penalty. Read more in NEWS.
Can Rand Paul win Republican nomination?
The Kentucky Republican, who is expected to announce a presidential run Tuesday, doesn't skate within party lines. Paul's unorthodox and at times courageous approach has done little to help his presidential prospects. While polls suggest some young conservatives see eye-to-eye with Paul, most congressional Republicans adamantly oppose many of his foreign policy positions. Read more in POLITICS.
Fraternity in debunked Rolling Stone article to take legal action
Phi Kappa Psi, the fraternity at the center of a discredited and retracted Rolling Stone article describing a brutal gang rape, said Monday that it plans to "pursue all available legal action against the magazine." The announcement came after the Columbia Journalism School released a report about the article that found "basic, even routine journalistic practice" had been violated. Read more in NEWS.
Carbon monoxide kills dad, seven kids in Maryland
Rodney Todd Sr., 36, and his seven kids, aged 6 to 16, were found dead by officers in the southern Maryland town of Princess Anne on Monday. Todd's parents said police told them the family had died of carbon monoxide poisoning, adding that they believe the culprit was a generator Todd was using because he couldn't keep up with his electricity bills. Closing arguments to begin in Aaron Hernandez case
Lawyers for former New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez only called three witnesses before resting their case Monday. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of Odin Lloyd, who was killed less than a mile from Hernandez's home. Closing arguments are set for Tuesday or Wednesday. Read more in NEWS.
Duke beats Wisconsin to win National championship
The Duke Blue Devils beat the Wisconsin Badgers Monday night, earning the team their fifth national championship. The 68 to 63 final score also gives Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski the second most wins for one coach in Division 1 men's national basketball championships. Read more in SPORTS.
