1. Missing AirAsia Flight Likely on 'Bottom of the Sea'

AirAsia passenger jet that disappeared with 162 people on board most likely crashed into the sea, the head of the rescue effort told reporters Monday, as dozens of planes and ships mounted a search. Read more in NEWS.

2. Ferry Nightmare

The death toll from a blaze on a car ferry rose to five on Monday as helicopter crews raced to rescue some 70 passengers still stranded on the Norman Atlantic more than a day after it caught on fire off the coast of Greece. Read more in NEWS

3. 'The Interview' Sets Sony's All-Time Record for Online Sales

Sony Pictures announced Sunday that the controversial movie "The Interview" had been viewed more than 2 million times online and a total of $15 million was spent. But co-star and co-director Seth Rogen was just excited that so many people had also chosen to see the movie in real theaters after select independent movie houses chose to screen it, even though they had the option of watching it from the comfort of their own living rooms. 4. Police Search for Gunman After LAPD Car Shot At

Dozens of police officers swarmed a South Los Angeles neighborhood Sunday night in search of a gunman after an LAPD patrol car was shot at with a rifle, officials said.The department declared a citywide tactical alert, sending every available officer to the area. The two officers were driving in the area about 9:30 p.m. when their squad car was fired upon by two people, police said. Read more at NBCLA.

5. Arctic Blast Bears Down on Plains

An arctic blast was bearing down on much of the U.S. on Monday, promising temperatures well below average for parts of the Plains and the West later in the week, according to forecasters. Temperatures in some places are expected to drop to 45 degrees below average. Read more in WEATHER.

6. 'She's OCD!' 'He's Schizo!' How Misused Health Lingo Can Harm

This year, Americans expanded their medical jargon with a smattering of once-exotic words, including the illnesses MERS and enterovirus — plus "contact tracing," the footwork done to curb Ebola outbreaks. But our daily health speak remains liberally laced with a slew of misapplied psychiatric terms, such as "OCD," "bipolar," "sociopath" and "schizo."
