1. Brussels Death Toll Climbs Amid Raids, Remembrance
Brussels was preparing to honor terror victims with an interfaith memorial Monday after a weekend of raids across Europe aimed at signaling stepped-up cooperation following carnage in the Belgian capital. The toll from the bombings climbed to 35 early Monday while several suspects were in custody from Belgium to Italy and the Netherlands, picked up as part of a spree of searches carried out over the weekend. 2. Suicide Attack Kills 72 in Pakistan Park
At least 72 people — mostly women and children — were killed and more than 320 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a busy park in Lahore on Sunday, officials said. A splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban — Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Jamaatul Ahrar (TTP-JA) — claimed responsibility for the attack. "Members of the Christian community who were celebrating Easter today were our prime target," TTP-JA spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told NBC News. Read more in NEWS.
3. Lawsuit Planned Over N.C. Ban on Transgender Bathrooms
The American Civil Liberties Union, the LGBT activist groups Lambda Legal and Equality NC, and plaintiffs yet to be named said Sunday they will sue to stop North Carolina from enforcing a controversial new law that prevents localities from passing their own anti-discrimination rules for gay and lesbian residents. The law was passed last week by the Republican-controlled General Assembly, which took issue with language in an existing law that allowed transgender people to use restrooms aligned with their gender identities. 4. More Dem Debates? Sanders Wants Another Chance at Clinton
Bernie Sanders, when asked on NBC's Meet the Press this weekend whether he was worried that Hillary Clinton would not debate him anymore, said: "I do have a little bit of concern about that. But I certainly would like to see a debate in New York State." 5. Ivanka Trump Gives Birth to Baby Boy
America gained another member of the Trump clan on Easter Sunday after Donald's daughter gave birth to a baby boy. Ivanka Trump announced the arrival of Theodore James Kushner on Twitter. 6. Mother Angelica, Founder of Catholic Network EWTN, Dies
Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation, founder of the Catholic TV powerhouse EWTN, died Easter Sunday at 92, the network confirmed Sunday night. Mother Angelica — born Rita Antoinette Rizzo in Canton, Ohio, in 1923 — began what would become the Eternal Word Television Network in Irondale, Alabama, in 1981 with $200, 12 nuns and little television experience. 7. 'Batman v Superman' Shatters Records With $170.1 Million Debut
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" steamrolled past records, debuting to a gargantuan $170.1 million over Easter weekend despite being pilloried by critics.
