Tony Award-nominated actress Phillipa Soo has just been cast in upcoming Disney film, “Moana,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Soo is best known for her current portrayal of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton, opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda in the Broadway hit, “Hamilton.”

The Juilliard-trained actress will be the voice of a villager from Moana’s home island, Motunui, according to Entertainment Weekly. This will be Soo’s first animated voiceover role.

Soo joins Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who was the first to be cast in the Disney film. He will play the demigod Maui. Newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho will play the titular character.

The music for “Moana” is being composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda also wrote, composed, and is currently starring in the Broadway musical, “Hamilton,” which received a Pulitzer Prize and has been nominated for 16 Tony Awards.

The screenplay is being written by New Zealand writer, director, actor, and comedian Taika Waititi.

Described as a computer-animated comedy-adventure, and set in the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana's adventure takes her on "an action-packed voyage, encountering sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore," according to Disney.

“Moana” is scheduled to open in theaters Nov. 23, 2016.
