Growing up, Eugene Lee Yang said he never realized film could be his career, though he was passionate all through childhood about the arts. "As a small kid from Texas, I just imagined that Hollywood was this world that was really foreign and far away," Yang told NBC News, "and I didn't see many Asians on screen, so I had no idea that I could even be a part of it."
These days, as one of the most visible faces of BuzzFeed Motion Pictures, Yang is passionate about representation and diversity in the projects he creates, and says he wants to inspire future Asian-American artists and influencers to create content and take risks to pursue career paths in the arts.
Look for new "Life Stories" videos published on Thursdays beginning in May and through September. Episodes can be watched on NBCAsianAmerica.com, NBC Asian America's Facebook page, NBC News' official YouTube channel, and the NBC News app available on mobile devices, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.
"Life Stories" is part of "NBC Asian America Presents...," a new video channel that will feature documentaries centered around themes and voices found in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
