A basset hound living in the central German town of Fulda has made it into the Guinness Book of Records for having the longest ears in the world, measuring 33.2 centimeters, or just over a foot.

One-year-old Jack’s ears are so long that he sometimes trips over them and has a hard time keeping them off the ground, his owner said on Wednesday.

Owner Claudia Baus said she measured Jack’s ears after reading a newspaper article about a basset hound supposedly having the longest dog ears in the world.

When a representative for the Guinness Book of Records contacted them, Claudia and Carsten Baus knew they had a world record holder living under their roof.
