An Afghan woman working to register voters for Afghanistan's elections was killed and another wounded along with a driver when their car hit a landmine in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, an official said.

The incident took place in eastern Nangarhar province's Khogyani district when the women were returning home from a voter registration site, said provincial spokesman Faizanullhaq.

A spokesman for the United Nations, which is supervising voter registration for the delayed elections, said an incident was being investigated but he had no further details.
